Shallowford Herbs & Acupuncture Clinic
An old Bootstrap site with a dark menu bar and no call button became a clear, phone-friendly site. It now says what the clinic does up front and puts a call button on every page.

Starting point
The old site was a 2015-style Bootstrap page with a dark menu bar.
- 01
The homepage opened on "Welcome" and a long paragraph. It never said what the clinic does or where it is.
- 02
There was no call button, and the phone number didn’t appear as text on the homepage.
- 03
On phones, the clinic name ran over the top of the photo slider.
- 04
The slider rotated four photos. Screen readers heard "First Slide" for every one.
- 05
The homepage didn’t show the address, hours or directions.
- 06
The pages were long blocks of text with no clear next step.
What we changed
- Before
A "Welcome" heading over a long paragraph.
AfterA headline that says what the clinic does: "Acupuncture & herbal medicine, rooted in three generations."
- Before
No call button. No phone number in the page text.
AfterA call button in the header and under the headline. The number taps to call on every page.
- Before
A dark menu bar. On phones, the clinic name ran over the photos.
AfterA light header with the logo, the menu and a call button. On phones, call and menu buttons sit side by side.
- Before
A rotating slider, with every photo labeled "First Slide".
AfterOne photo of the clinic. Every image has a short description.
- Before
No address, hours or directions on the homepage.
AfterLocation, hours and a "Get directions" link on the homepage.
- Before
Four menu items and long pages of text.
AfterClear pages for Dr. Xu, treatments, FAQ and visiting. Treatments appear as short cards, with a list of conditions treated.
The result
- A clear headline at the top of the page.
- Call buttons that work with one tap on a phone.
- Text that’s easy to read on a phone, with nothing overlapping.
- Hours and directions on the homepage.
- Real text and real descriptions instead of slider labels.
- Chinese and Korean versions of the site, so more patients can read it in their own language.

This is so much better.
